MARCH NEWSLETTER: THE MARCH EDITION OF THE CHILDREN ART CLUB, AN UNEQUAL ART ENGAGEMENT FOR THE NIGERIAN CHILD

The Children Art Club in Abeokuta is moving forward with increase in participation, a creative outlet where the kids come together every third Saturdays of the month to express unhindered their artistic talents and learn new skills. In the words of Pablo Picasso, “Every child is an artist; the problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up”.

The children are our most precious resources; when we fail to recognize these kids’ talents, they recede and diminished. We cannot allow their God’s given talents to go to waste. With the right guidance and stimulating environment, the children can be helped to discover and harness their inner creative genius. And such we have provided every time the Children Art Club is held at the Cultural and Musical Heritage Centre, OLUMO ROCK, Ikija, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. The March edition was held on March 21 while the next edition holds on 18th April, 1015.
The Children Art Club remains FREE for the Nigerian children to participate with free entrance to Olumo Rock, Free Art supplies for artistic engagements and no fee paid for the quality of the creative instructions and art education received.

Recognizing student’s achievement is the key to encouraging motivation and engagement. That’s what propels us to introduce varieties of international Art contest to the children at the last edition of the Children Art Club in March. The children created diverse works of Art on the following themes; Peace, friendship, nature etc. using art media such as coloured pencils, water colour, crayon, collage, and acrylic.
It is amazing the level of creativity and ingenuity displayed by the children from the art works they created under the period of two hours. In today’s world, the children will need to be inventive, resourceful and imaginative. And the best way to foster that creativity is through Art education. Sincerely, any artistic endeavor engaged with the children should be fully supported and encouraged. Our mission is to provide the children with the opportunity to learn and develop their creative potentials for both personal and social-economic benefits.

The CHILDREN ART CLUB was established to provide an outlet for enriching creative activities for the kids with aim of promoting Art Education at the grassroots; to unlock talents, encourage aspirations and nurture creativity. More so, it is a creative platform for every child irrespective of their status and social background to help them harness, maximize and express unhindered their God’s given potentials in a serene environment that inspire creativity.

The CHILDREN ART CLUB is endorsed by InSEA (www.insea.org), powered by the TEACHING VISUAL ART, and TEACHING VISUAL ART will like to collaborate and partner with other organization to create an artistic engagement and resources to aid talent development for the Nigerian children.
The next edition of the CHILDREN ART CLUB comes up on Saturday 18th day of April, 2015. Registration will commence by 9am; the Art session starts by 10am and will end at noon at the usual venue, the Cultural and Musical Heritage Centre, OLUMO ROCK, Ikija, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria.
